AP Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme

The Jagananna Vidya Deevena Scheme is a scholarship scheme launched by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to provide financial support to students who wish to pursue higher education but are unable to pay their fees due to financial constraints. The scheme was introduced to help meritorious students from economically weaker families continue their education without interruption.

Objective of the scheme

  • Providing help to financially weak students who want to study but are unable to do so because of lack of finance.
  • Promote higher education in the state and encourage youngsters towards further education.

Incentives under the scheme

  • Tuition fee plus hostel fee reimbursement for students pursuing Degree, Engineering and other eligible courses — up to Rs. 20,000/- per year.
  • Students staying in welfare hostels are exempted from mess charges.
  • Money incentives: Rs. 15,000 for Polytechnic students, Rs. 10,000 for ITI students, and Rs. 20,000 for Graduate Degree and other courses.

Benefits of the scheme

The primary benefit is free-of-cost education for all beneficiaries who meet the eligibility criteria. Tuition fees, mess charges and hostel charges are exempted for students who maintain the required academic standards, as reported by their hostels or college. Monetary incentives are also disbursed every year to eligible beneficiaries.

Eligibility criteria

  • Government job employees and their dependents are not eligible for the scheme.
  • Families receiving a pension are not eligible.
  • Sanctuary workers are exempted from the scheme.
  • Eligible courses: Polytechnic, ITI and Degree.
  • Students must be enrolled in a Government / Government-aided institution, or a private college affiliated to a State University or Board.
  • The family's annual income should be less than Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.
  • Beneficiaries should hold wetland below 10 acres, agricultural land below 25 acres, or a combination of wetland and agricultural land under 25 acres.
  • Beneficiaries should not own any four-wheeler (car, taxi, auto, etc.).

Scheme guidelines

  • Fee is collected in colleges as per the notification released by the State Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission.
  • No fee other than that decided by the government should be collected from students.
  • Attendance of students, teaching and non-teaching staff is recorded through Aadhaar-linked biometric attendance.
  • Fee reimbursement does not apply if a student's attendance is below 75%.
  • The scheme is not applicable to deemed and private universities.
  • The scheme does not apply to students studying through distance learning or correspondence courses.
  • The scheme is not applicable to students under management or NRI quotas.

How to apply

  • Visit the official YSR Navasakam Portal website.
  • On the homepage, click on the Downloads option.
  • Click on "JVD Fee Reimbursement Proforma" to download the application form.
  • Take a printout and fill in all required information — village volunteer details, family head details, mother's bank account details, validation details, etc.
  • Attach all required supporting documents.
  • Submit the completed application form to the concerned department.

  • After landing on the web page, click on the text in blue colour to get Detailed Reports.
  • Select your "District Name".
  • Select your location.
  • Choose Rural or Urban.
  • Note your Secretariat Code.
  • Use the Secretariat Code to display the Eligible List on the webpage.

  • Click on the "Login" option.
  • A new page will appear on your screen.
  • Enter your username, password and captcha code.
